Bored at home because you can’t go fishing? Don’t let social isolation take a hit on your cast! Give this fun fly casting game a try!
Equipment:
· 3 markers (we used some old Tupperware but anything that you can easily see from a little distance will work)
· Masking tape
· Pen and paper
· Fly rod rigged with your favorite reel and line
· Rod case
· Fly WITHOUT the hook
Set Up:
1. Mark your 3 markers 1, 2 and 3
2. Using masking tape, put an ‘X’ to show where you will be casting from. (Make sure you have plenty of space)
3. Set the 3 markers at various distances and angles
How to play:
· Stand on the X, 1 player at a time
· Each player gets 3 casts per turn. (False casting is allowed but if the fly touches the ground it stays down – this is practice after all)
· If the fly lands within a rod case length of the marker, that player earns the points associated with that marker.
· GRAND SLAM = hits all 3 markers in 1 turn, earns 6 points plus 1 bonus point (and bragging rights)
· First player to 20 points wins
· Overtime = Sudden Death, shoot for the 1 pointer first, then 2, then 3
· Winner resets the markers for the next game
