World Class Winter Steelhead in Big, Green Water
The Umpqua River and it’s steelhead need no introduction. Both the South and North fork offer premier steelhead angling and the real opportunity to catch the fish of a lifetime! The entire drainage sees an estimated return of 40,000 fish from January - April. It’s beauty is breathtaking and it’s emerald waters are just plain fishy. Beginning high in the wilderness forests of the Cascade mountains and emptying through the verdant fields of Southern Oregon, the Umpqua is a go-to destination for fly anglers seeking quality winter steelhead flyfishing.
North Umpqua
The Wild Winter Steelhead of the North Umpqua are fish to behold, often running to the massive end of the tape. Benefiting from catch and release regulations enacted in 2003, it’s large fish, seductive water and wide range of fishable conditions make The North one of our go-to destinations for winter steelhead trips.
South Umpqua
Seldom spoken about with little publicly known, the South has real deal wild steelhead and a great run of hatchery fish. Most are large, over 8lb’s and move very quickly through the system. Water conditions and timing are paramount to success here making this river is one of our favorite venues for the die-hard Winter Steelhead angler.
