Klamath Watershed + Upper Sac
The Klamath River is a rugged gem, carving deep into the Southern Cascade mountains. It creates a lush and productive river canyon off the beaten path yet only 75 minutes from Ashland, OR. Designated Wild & Scenic it harbors prolific aquatic life, blizzard hatches and very high catch rates. The wild Redband trout that call the Klamath home are strong tenacious fish that smash flies, get airborne and fight hard. Trips on the Klamath are client favorites.
The Upper Sac has nearly forty miles of quick and easy access beginning with crystal clear springs. Just out of Mt. Shasta, this amazingly rich and productive freestone stream is home to the Shasta Rainbow Trout, which grows hearty on the diversity of aquatic life the river affords. The river trails in spring are lined with amazing wildflower displays, with fall months featuring wild blackberry feasts. Plan on sharing your experience with ouzels, osprey and otters.
In summer we also chase the large adfluvial trout of the Williamson and Wood rivers, tributaries to Klamath lake and headwaters of the Klamath River. These technical spring creeks challenge any angler with rewards of disproportionate wild trout. The Hexagenia mayfly hatch is one of our favorites here.
